The reception is picky since I use it indoors a lot. The antenna itself comes with a 10 foot cord to mount anywhere. The SkyFi fits perfectly and easily into the boom box. You will have to find a good place to pick up the satellite signal by careful placement of the antenna. For the cheap price of under $30, it is hard to beat. The volume isn't real loud nor is there any real bass. It has easy controls for satellite stations.
Wonderful. Now I can listen to my selected channels when I'm working at home. I love it. I needed to replace my Delphi player that got moved to NC.
Maybe it's just this "one" box that has this problem, I'm not sure. I think there is a direct short in the battery compartment and I am not stupid enought to burn up anymore batteries. So far this boom box has cost me 18 batteries over $18.00 worth.
I did not use it for a couple of weeks because I have other radio's and did not have an occasion to use it. But I wanted to take it out in the yard to use it by battery. I bought this boom box in January 25, 2009 and it was shipped on January 29th.
It did not work, so I opened up the battery compartment and it was all wet with battery acid, thinking the batteries were defective (I checked them with my battery meter) I wiped out the acid and put in 6 fresh batteries, it worked, but the next day they were dead (again dead batteries), so I tried 6 more fresh batteries again it worked that day, the next day it was dead again. I am trying to figure out how to contact Amazon to return this boom box. A couple of weeks ago I decided to start using it and I inserted the 6 batteries as indicated and it worked.
And then I had an AC source so I started using the AC cord for a few days.
I don't recommend doing business with them. It been two weeks without any action on Amazon part. It would be nice to review but I never receive this item. I've been charge for it and have responded to Amazon with where is it and get no responds.
Sound quality is good, but it is not a high end audiophile system (which it is not priced to be either) and volume output is limited. The antenna works extremely well inside with what I would consider to be limited exposure to the southern sky.
The first unit did not work at all (I think it was the antenna), but Amazon customer service was great about speedily sending me a complete replacement unit at no cost to me. However, I actually recieved two units.
I was looking for a unit to play my SkiFi2 outside of the car particularly to keep up with sporting events and this unit fits the bill perfectly. In outdoor situations, the volume is also adequate as long as you are relatively close to the unit.
They even covered the postage for the return of the defective unit. At $25, it is a great buy.
The volume is loud enough for indoor single room settings with a limited number of people.
